WELCOME: Become an owner of our Nubian dairy-goat herd by purchasing a share and paying monthly boarding fees between mid-June and mid-October. Shares are between 3 and 6 months in length, depending on availability (share length is assigned based on past ownership status*).
 
NATURAL RAISING: Our herd resides in the canopy of overgrown apple trees, eating wild berries, roses, and nut and fruit leaves and saplings; they choose their own feast and harvest their own medicine. For additional protein and minerals to support the production of milk for our consumption, we supplement with Midwest grown non-gmo grain. We milk once per day, rotate pasture every other day, and work alongside the goats with reverence for their wisdom. 
 
HUMANE TREATMENT: If an animal requires pharmaceutical intervention, we act quickly to minimize unnecessary suffering and provide treatment under advisement of our veterinarian, following appropriate withdrawal periods. It is possible that shares will be slightly smaller on occasion if more than one animal must be off the milking lineup at a time. 
 
THE SHARES: Shares are picked up weekly; a whole share is approximately 1 gallon (128 oz), a half share is a half-gallon (64 oz), and quarter share is a quart (32 oz). Your deposit pays for the first month of boarding and covers glass jar rental for the season (the jar rental portion will be returned to you at the end of the season when rented jars are returned). You will receive enough jars so that you have one extra set (so you get 1 week to miss your jar return) but thereafter must wash, sanitize, dry, and return one set of jars each week throughout the season to receive milk the following week. Each owner will sign a liability waiver, which outlines the risks of the share, before the first pickup. 
 
PRICING: For each quart per week you would like to reserve, you will add that number of products to your cart. Each 32 oz. quarter share is $8/week ($32/month). The jar deposit is a one-time fee of $12 per quarter share (this will be returned to you at the end of the season when you return your jars). The deposit you pay upfront will cover the first month of your share. Dreamgoats will reach out to request further payment before the share begins**.
